How to play Capy Reef
Use WASD or arrow keys on desktop, or hold and drag anywhere to move.
Walk off any beach to dive in, and swim into a beach to climb out.
Face a fish so it sits inside the sonar cone until the catch ring fills.
Tips
Your first dive is from the dive board: the first fish swims just beyond it.
The fish bag and the log carrier fill separately, so a full log carrier never ends a fishing trip.
Open the fish collection to see which species you still need; new tiles can ask for species you have discovered, and discovering a species never spends a fish.
What is Capy Reef?
Capy Reef is a cozy island-and-ocean game about a capybara who swims out to the reef, catches fish, and brings them home to a small aquarium. Every fish you catch follows you in a soft bubble, so the haul you are carrying is always visible, and it hops into the pond one by one when you arrive.
The island grows from what you bring back. Fish in the pond draw animal visitors who leave coins on the sand. Coins and palm logs raise new ground out of the sea: a palm grove, a turtle hut, an aquarium terrace, a pier out to the kelp reef, and a lighthouse point.
How to play Capy Reef
Walk to the water’s edge and keep going: Capy leaps in. Underwater, a 110° sonar cone points the way you are swimming. Keep a fish inside it until the ring fills and it joins your parade. When the fish bag is full, swim back to any beach, climb out, and walk into the pond to stock it.
On land, stand next to a palm to chop logs, carry them to a glowing build pad, and pay coins at the same pad. A tile rises out of the water when its bill is paid.
Six species to discover
The shallow reef around the home island holds clownfish, blue tang and sand gobies. Once the Kelp Reef Pier is built, the deep ring adds pufferfish, butterflyfish and a little ray. Each species moves differently: clownfish loop, blue tang zigzag, gobies travel in schools, and pufferfish hang still before darting away.
Automation that keeps the job yours
The Turtle Hut adds a helper who chops palms and stacks logs on a woodpile, which holds at most twelve logs. You still carry them to the build pads, and the turtle never fishes, so discovering species stays with you.
